Thai visa for foreign students is Non-Immigrant visa (category ED). The visa is initially granted for a period of 3 months. The initial visa should be obtained at a Thai Embassy/Consulate before travelling to Thailand. To obtain the visa, the applicant should have received a placement at an education institution in Thailand and is able to prove the availability of sufficient funds to cover tuition fees and living expenses.
The visa can be extended for additional 12-month periods until the completion of the course. However, to obtain an extension the student should have complied with the conditions of the visa. Application for an extension can be lodged at the Immigration Bureau in Bangkok, located in Government Centre B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210.
