The Charge d'affaires a.i. of the Embassy Ms. Huda Shareef met with Mr. Pol Kol Piti Nithinonthaset, Deputy Commander of Immigration Div 1 of Thailand and Superintendents of the Immigration Bureau, today. The purpose of the meeting was to seek solutions for long and short term visa-related issues faced by Maldivians visiting the country. The meeting was held at the Thai Immigration Bureau in Bangkok.

Charge d'affaires a.i. of the Embassy met with Vice President-Marketing and Acting Vice President-Sales of Bangkok Airways today at the head office of the airline in Bangkok. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the forging of a partnership between the airline and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) to carry out promotional activities of the Maldives' tourism market in Thailand.

The Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology (MCST) of Maldives signed an MOU with Assumption University, Thailand, in Bangkok, on 6 September 2019, commencing academic collaboration between the two parties. The MOU was signed on behalf of MCST by Hon. Maleeh Jamaal, Minister of Communication, Science and Technology of Maldives. The document was signed on behalf of the university by Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghira, AU President-Rector Magnificus. The signing ceremony took place at Assumption University. 

Provision of scholarships to Maldivian students is among the areas covered in the MOU.

Charge d'affaires of the Embassy had a meeting today with Mr David Lau to discuss showcasing Maldives in Thailand. Mr David is a renown photographer and businessman who uses his talent at photography to showcase foreign countries and cultures to Thai people. David Lau's photo exhibitions have been used by several countries as a marketing tool for tourism.
