His Excellency Abdulla Shahid, Foreign Minister of the Maldives, arrived in Thailand on 15 October 2019 on a two-day official visit. The Minister is visiting on the invitation of his Thai counterpart His Excellency Don Pramudwinai. During his visit, Foreign Minister Shahid is expected to hold talks with the Thai Foreign Minister on strengthening bilateral relations. The Minister will also officially open the Maldives' Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand.
Ambassador-designate Mohamed Jinah called on Mr. Nadhavathna Krishnamra, Director-General of the Department of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand today. The purpose of the call was to submit documents required for both an audience with His Majesty the King and the presentation of his credentials as the Ambassador of the Maldives in Thailand.
Ms Huda Shareef, Charge d'affaires, attended the annual gala event of the Honorary Consul's Association of Thailand (HCAT). Thai Foreign Minister H.E. Don Pramudwinai was the Chief Guest. The event was held at the Flamenco, Bangkok on 19 September 2019. HCAT is the largest Honorary Consul's association in the world.
Ms Huda Shareef, Charge d'affaires of the Embassy had an introductory meeting with Mr Kalin Sarasin, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand on 1st October 2019. The meeting was held at the University of Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC). Discussions at the meeting focused on enhancing Thai investments in the Maldives including potential new areas for investing such as waste to energy projects.
Mr David Lau, a renown photographer and businessman based in Thailand, is in Maldives from 25-30 September 2019 for a photo shoot. The visit is organised by the Embassy with support from Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC). Mr Lau uses his talent in photography to showcase foreign countries and cultures to Thai people. His photos will be exhibited in Siam Paragon, Bangkok, in January 2020.
